A Taste of Spring

On Tuesday, we walked home from school for the first time in a while. No polar votex, woo hoo!
Upon arriving home, James and John geared up in their helmets (and elbow and knee pads for John) and broke out the scooters. John did well with a little help from me, and he even started doing it on his own a bit!

Love for Murdoch

You may or may not remember "Murdoch," the concrete cat that came with our house. James named (and colored) him our first summer here three years ago.

Well, when we had our taste of spring on Tuesday, I found John embracing our "pet."

Thanks, Nana & Pops!

John loves the bristle blocks he got for his birthday. As in he even carried the little case of them to bed Tuesday night!
His favorite thing for us to build together is airplanes. We've tried a few different designs. Here is this morning's version. I think it might be his favorite because he didn't immediately take it apart...

Another Snowy Day

No school today. Ice and rain mixed in this time, but that did make the snow "stickier." Daddy was home, so we ha some family fun outside. Still no snowman, but we did create a luge/skeleton run and a snow fort. I looooved taking the sled down our track, but I've already got my eye on a longer, steeper run in the backyard. James employed Dan as his "building servant" in creating the fort, then they had a small snowball fight. James was in the fort yelling out, "Stop Daddy! You're on my team! You're my building servant!"
Ha! John was happy in his many roles: arctic explorer, sled rider, neighborhood greeter,...

The current snow bank depth:
James the foreman, Daddy the servant:
Servant at work:
John goes for a ride:
Snowball attack--
Dad's tuckered!
Proud of his fort--
Front walk--
Top of the sled run--
Looking up from the "finish"--
New luge/skeleton track site?

Snowy Day

Today is quite snowy, but relatively warm, so the boys and I ventured out after James came home from kindergarten.

James: Author, Illustrator, Publisher

When I picked James up from school on Monday, his teacher said, "Don't forget to finish your story."  He worked for almost two hours! Enthusiastically!
Please enjoy...

JAMES and the SPOOKS by James

I saw an attack. Bugs came. I turned on the goo. The ghosts scared Ms. Nagel. The ghosts were scared by John. I saved the mermaid. Me and John were heroes.

About the Author
