Egg Dying 2014

18 eggs

23 minutes

6 broken eggs (three before even getting dyed, but they did get dyed anyway)

2 crying boys (John because we wouldn't let him hold/break all the eggs; James because just as he was declaring "Look how beautiful!" for his final and most/only time consuming egg, it fell and broke.)

1 red hand (John, in his enthusiasm, knocked over the cup of red dye whilst the tablet was dissolving in the vinegar; we hadn't even added water yet! Luckily all of it didn't spill/stain his hand, so we still had (slightly less potent?) red dye.)

Also, the first 17 eggs were probably done within 17 minutes. That last "beautiful gold egg" was really the only one he gave such attention to.

I managed to dye one egg.

But it was still fun! And I was smiling and/or laughing the entire time (well, except the moments when the sound of cracking eggshells made me cringe.)

The first eggs.
This egg cracked shortly after this photo was taken.

The first dozen complete.

James working on his masterpiece. John was obsessed with his red egg.
My egg (in honor of the Boston Marathon on Monday).
"Isn't it beautiful?!" James's beautiful golden egg.
