Pageant Rehearsal

Today was the third and final rehearsal for our Christmas Pageant. At the first rehearsal John had to leave to go to the doctor because he'd broken out in hives. (Allergy to his antibiotic). Last week he decided to sit (or run around) with Grandpa instead of rehearsing. So I wasn't sure what to expect from today's dress rehearsal. 

When we went to get costumes, John stated firmly that he preferred an angel to being a shepherd. And he was super excited to put on the outfit. 

We headed upstairs to the church, and John sat with the other angels. 

He then looked at me and said, "I want to take this off. I want to be a king like Jamesy."

I told him he couldn't be a king. "I want to be a shepherd and carry a big stick."

We headed back downstairs. 

He traded in his halo. 

And back upstairs we went.

Just in Case

Last night when I went in to kiss Jamesy goodnight, he had taken his two board halves (from when he attended a karate bday party and chopped a board in half) and brought them to bed. Atop one he had arranged his special rocks from his field trip to the mine. On the other was his resin covered scorpion that I brought him from Arizona. 

He said, "I brought these to look at if I get sick. Like remember when I got sick after Easter? When I ate all that candy? So if I get sick I have something to look at."

Okay...

I wonder if he was trying to tell me he had eaten a bunch of candy....

I asked if he felt okay. He did. So I put the boards on his dresser and told him he probably wouldn't need them, but that it was a nice idea if he did. 

Getting Ready for School: A Photoessay

John and I went shopping this morning for his lunchbox for school. 

I asked if he wanted to walk or go in the stroller. He chose to walk. 

We looked over all the choices. John briefly selected a rocket lunchbox, but then switched to a dinosaur. 

He then carried it around for the rest of our shopping expedition. 

On the way home, he was excited to drive by his new school and was quite disappointed not to go inside.
